Once your tado° devices are installed, you can control your heating and cooling via the app, anytime, anywhere.

Starting from the top, you’ll find the following from the Home Screen in the app:

These buttons appear above your Room tiles and let you apply certain settings to all your Rooms at once. You can:

  • Turn OFF all heating or cooling.

  • Boost Heating to turn on all heating to the maximum for up to 30 minutes.

  • Resume Schedule to return to your heating schedule after selecting one of the above.

  • Switch to Home to change your set location.

  • Switch to Away to change your set location.

  • Switch to Auto to let Geofencing detect your location (only with Auto-Assist).

  • Turn Heating OFF when Open Window Detection activates.

Each coloured tile with a temperature represents a room you’ve created in your Home. You may also see tiles for heating, hot water, or heat pump functions, depending on your setup. You can select any tile for more details.

The larger figure shows the current temperature and the smaller figure underneath shows the temperature that the room is heating/cooling to. If the room isn’t actively heating or cooling, the smaller figure shows the temperature that you’ve set the room to. If you have tado° X devices, a hand icon next to the smaller figure indicates that Manual Control is active, while the Balance icon shows that Balance for Heat Pumps is activated.

The colour of the Room tiles gives you a quick view of their temperatures:

  • Light - Dark Green: The Room is set to an energy-saving temperature (below 19°).

  • Yellow - Orange: The Room is set to a higher temperature.

  • Grey: The Room is set to OFF/Frost protection.

Skills

Below the Room tiles, you’ll find the following Skill tiles:

  • Air Comfort gives insights about the air quality in your home.

  • Geofencing shows whether your Home is currently set to the Home or Away settings of your Smart Schedule. Here you can adjust your settings to Home, Away, or Auto.

  • Energy IQ provides a detailed energy consumption report. Auto-Assist users have access to the full report, but all users have access to a Savings Summary, which shows how tado° helped you save in the last month.

    • Energy Savings appears instead of Energy IQ if you use tado° only for cooling (with Smart AC Control), and provides an energy consumption report for your cooling system.

  • Care & Protect, which activates for Auto-Assist users, monitors the ‘health’ of your heating system, helping you identify potential issues.

In the bottom panel of the app, you can navigate between the Home Screen and the following tabs:

Here you can manage the following settings:
