Which devices do I need to control multiple rooms separately with tado°?

Note: How tado° works in your home

tado° have enhanced its product portfolio to allow individual control of multiple rooms. This gives you even more granular control of your temperature at home.

Maximized thermal comfort is reached by separating an apartment or house into a number of areas with similar usage which are homogeneously controlled. These parts are called rooms. Each room is associated with one temperature reading and one temperature setpoint which shows up in your tado° app.

Depending on your current setup at home and on how you want to optimize your temperature control at home, you will require different tado° devices. In the following, we give a brief overview of different setups and how tado° is installed in them.

Controlling multiple ACs by Smart AC Controls

If you want to control several ACs with tado° you need a Smart AC Control per AC. Every AC will then be a separate room to be controlled separately.

Replacing existing thermostats with Smart Thermostats

For existing heating setups with multiple thermostats, each thermostat can be replaced by a Smart Thermostat. If you already have a Smart Thermostat you can also replace your other thermostats with further Smart Thermostats.

Controlling multiple rooms in setups without an installed thermostat

Very few heating setups allow control of multiple rooms without room thermostats. tado° enhances these setups with room temperature control and requires a Smart Thermostat per room and one Extension Kit. We are happy to advise you on how these systems are controlled by tado°.

You do not require a Smart Thermostat when using the Smart Radiator Thermostats. But if you already have a Smart Thermostat connected to your heating system, you can enhance your setup with Smart Radiator Thermostats.

Zoned heating systems can be quite complex. We are happy to help if you have questions on how your multi-zone system can be controlled by tado°. Contact us with details about your heating system.
