Some homes have multiple heat sources, for example, one central boiler, and a secondary boiler for a separate part of the house. In these cases, the central boiler is controlled with the Smart Thermostat and the other areas are controlled independently with tado°.

These heating systems can be controlled with one of the following setups:

1. One Smart Thermostat controls one boiler

One boiler is controlled by the central Smart Thermostat. The part of the house supplied from another heat source will act independently from tado° without using the smart features of tado°.

You’ll need the following tado° devices:

  • 1x Starter Kit - Wired Smart Thermostat V3+ (includes Smart Thermostat and Internet Bridge)

2. One Smart Thermostat controls one boiler and the radiators supplied from another heat source are controlled with Smart Radiator Thermostats

The boiler is controlled by the central Smart Thermostat. The radiators supplied with heat from the second boiler are controlled independently with tado° Smart Radiator Thermostats. This way the entire house is regulated by tado°.

You’ll need the following tado° devices:

  • 1x Starter Kit - Wired Smart Thermostat V3+ (includes Smart Thermostat and Internet Bridge) as well as

  • Add-on - Smart Radiator Thermostats for each radiator supplied from the second boiler

3. One Smart Thermostat controls the boiler, and the water-based underfloor heating supplied from another heat source is controlled with additional Smart Thermostats

The boiler is controlled by the central Smart Thermostat. Additional wired Smart Thermostats control the water-based underfloor heating rooms independently. This way the entire house is regulated by tado°.

You’ll need the following tado° devices:

  • 1x Starter Kit - Wired Smart Thermostat V3+ (includes Smart Thermostat and Internet Bridge) as well as

  • Add-on - Smart Thermostats for each room with underfloor heating supplied from the second boiler
