If you are smart charging a BMW or MINI vehicle, you should take into account that, to comply with the new API requirements, we ensure the departure time or desired state of charge (Smart Charging %) cannot be changed directly in the Smart Charging app.
What happens if you do not have a departure time set in the OEM app when starting a smart charging session?
The session will still be performed, but we will remain with an unknown departure time until:
a) you set a departure time in the OEM app; or
b) a “stop” command is sentIn case a stop command is sent (point b. above), BMW will automatically generate a default departure time 24 hours later.
If this default departure time is used, it may lead to unintended optimisation behaviour because we will optimise towards a departure time that likely does not reflect the driver’s expectation (about 24h after plugin).
Please note:
A departure time must be configured in the MyBMW / MyMINI app for smart charging to avoid erratic behaviour in the smart charging session(s). If not set, you should be aware that this may lead to unwanted charging behaviour and potentially failed sessions (desired SoC not met due to departure time being set to later than intended).
