Bridging the room thermostat

Some houses have a two-channel programmer (timer/controller) that controls the heating and hot water, and one wired room thermostat which controls the heating of the whole house. In these cases, you’ll need to bridge your existing room thermostat.

In this setup, the tado° Wireless Receiver replaces the two-channel programmer and controls the heating system together with the tado° Wireless Temperature Sensor. Bridging the existing room thermostat will deactivate it and give tado° full control over the heating.

You’ll receive detailed step-by-step instructions for bridging the room thermostat’s wires during the installation process.

Alternatively, if you prefer not to change the wiring of your current room thermostat, you can turn its temperature setting to the highest available set point. This removes your old room thermostat’s functionality. However, please ensure no one is able to adjust this setting again, as it will affect tado°’s ability to control your heating effectively.

In these cases, you’ll need to bridge your room thermostat’s receiver.
