How can I remove the battery optimization for the tado° App in Android 7 (Nougat) on Samsung Devices?

Battery optimization settings can block data transmission between your mobile phone and tado° and therefore adversely affects the location-based control of tado°.

In Android 7 (Nougat) Samsung has pre-installed a “device maintenance” function, which restricts all installed applications on the mobile phone by default. To disable this monitoring function for the tado° app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings on your mobile phone
  2. Enter the Device maintenance section
  3. Enter the Battery section
  4. Scroll down to enter the Unmonitored apps section
  5. Click on the Add apps button and select the tado° app
  6. Once the tado° app has been selected, click on the Done button

In addition to the “device maintenance” function, the tado° app has to be excluded from battery optimization. To disable battery optimization for the tado° app please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings on your mobile phone
  2. Enter the Apps section
  3. Enter the menu on the top right corner and click on Special access
  4. Enter the Optimize battery usage section
  5. Set the slider next to the tado° app to the OFF position
